Age Friendly Action Plan

Older people are sick and tired of endless invitations to discuss policies, strategies, white papers, agendas and future plans. Many of these wordy documents have been prepared by local authorities and government departments and older people are "consulted" as an afterthought or to tick the required box to show involvement.
Here, at last, is an Age-Friendly Action Plan. ESPOPF has compiled this plan so that authorities can stop talking and get on with the job of making Bursledon, Hamble and Hound more age-friendly places.
Of course, this Action Plan does not apply only to older people but to all age-groups. We hope it will be extended to include all communities nationwide.
It is a down-to-earth practical list of the many things that need to be done. Indeed, many of ESPOPF's recommendations have already been adopted as policy and already implemented.

It was good to meet you in Southampton to talk about the work you have done on the Age-Friendly Action Plan. I would like to include a "Case Example" of the approach you have taken in the report we are writing and just wanted to check with you what we have written. I have also referred to your other work elsewhere in the Report to illustrate resident-led approaches to high-lighting issues for older people.
